Social Media Teasers

After all of the hard work you put into a long form article, of course you’re going to want people to read it. The best way to do that in the digital age is to take to social media. Knowing the formatting that works on the platform you’re posting on is essential to your success.

Below are three social media teaser posts for my long form article.

Instagram

My first post is Instagram. What initially drew me to writing this piece were the portraits taken of the riders, so I figured a visual heavy platform would be a good place to start promotion. I chose a striking photo and kept my caption short and sweet, so it would pique the reader’s interest and lead to them clicking through to the article.

Twitter

Twitter is the platform I use the most, but I found myself struggling a little with this. There’s a 280-character limit, but I’ve found that if you attach a picture your post should be less than that. Nobody wants to read a wall of text on twitter unless it’s part of thread. I made my description to the point, hitting on key points, and let the image handle the rest. I used tinyurl to clean up the post a bit.

Facebook

I’m a little less familiar with this platform personally but I know from other professionals that content can do really well here because of the sharing feature. The format allows for more text and has a larger post format, so I adjusted accordingly for that. I added more text, creating a longer post to encourage people to want to continue reading and click the link.
