People have been morbidly fascinated by crime and murder since the Renaissance era. Over the last decades, the popularity of true crime podcasts, documentaries, and tv series has skyrocketed. Even as crime rates are declining, Americans are consuming more true crime media than ever before. As the genre rapidly grows, this video series examines how we got here, why we fervently consume it, and the effects it has on its audience.
